Montpelier Crescent was erected by AH Wilds between 1843-7 with the west wing of six houses added in the 1850's.
The green space in front is dominated by fine old holme oaks which provide a fine settting for these distinguished houses.
Before the Crescent was built, the green space was a cricket ground and one of the last games played was between Sussex and and All-England XI.
