Planning in the conservation area

The city council has designated Montpelier and Clifton Hill as an area of special architectural interestwhich should be preserved and enhanced.  Special regulations apply to planning applications for repairs, renovation and redevelopment.

The general approach to conservation areas is set out in the  'Residents' Guide to Conservation Areas'.

The specific approach to Montpelier and Clifton Hill is set out in the 'Character Statement' prepared by the council.

Houses included in the conservation area can be found on the map.

Some streets have exterior paintwork specified under 'Article 4 directiion':

   Clifton Terrace

   Montpelier Crescent   

   Montpelier Villas

   Powis Square

   Wykeham Terrace
